The dining hall theory

When entering college as a freshman, one usually gets a meal plan. They go to these dining halls usually from two to three times a day. In other words, one is eating a lot of food from these places. The dining halls are a buffet style dining where one can go up to a line and grab or ask a person what they want from that section. The problem with these dining halls is that they serve the same type of food everyday. When students go there, they are most likely eating pizza, pasta, salad, sub-par stir-fry, or sometimes a chicken sandwich. During the first few weeks of college, this is an exciting thing. One can get food whenever they want and have a selection to chose as they please. But as school progresses, students start to crave other foods. They get tired of the same stuff everyday. Also, the food at the dining halls is not the best. Even though some things might taste good, there are usually unwanted consequences of eating these items. After a while, kids will not want to eat at these dining halls. This will cause them to do either two things. They will either stop eating at these dining halls and be really hungry, or they will go out to eat at restaurants. If they choose to go hungry, they will not be able to focus on school very well. This will result in a lowering of grades. If they choose to go to restaurants, they will start to spend all their money and will not have any for various essentials such as books and other school-related items.
If we were allowed to go home a day early, it would mean something that every college kid wishes they had every day. They could get one, possibly two more home-cooked meals. This would result in an increase in morality, which would cause students to feel better and be able to focus on school more. Their grades would start to increase and would have more confidence with a higher GPA. If students have a higher GPA, their opportunity for success in life will be much greater. Therefore, by letting us miss class on Friday, we potentially have the opportunity to get a better job and live a happy life.
