The social experiments run by Aaron
Koblin were simply amazing; they gave a new perspective on humanity in the 21st
century. Koblin and his partners teamed
up to show us what people are capable of accomplishing when they are provided
with an opportunity to express themselves through digital media and contribute
a little part to whole connecting millions of people across the globe. From the sheep grid to the music video for
the Johnny cash song he got to see how people from all walks of life could do
when they were extremely board on the internet.
Throughout history changes in
technology have sparked changes in the way humans interact, in today’s age the
internet provides us with the chance to instantly connect with other people
from all the way across the world and share our art, music, and other passions
thus expanding our personal culture and humanity but at the same time
connecting us and making this big world seem that much smaller. It will be interesting to see if more and
more people start making sites like this in the near future and can link more
and more people to common cause even if it is just something silly like drawing
a sheep.
My favorite part of the video, and
experiment, was the Johnny cash music video, as a Johnny cash fan it was first
and foremost a striking video commemorating a great singer song writer and also
it was amazing to see how many fans he had in different countries.
Overall there are pros and cons to
becoming a global culture that’s is increasingly turning more web based, our
humanity however will always be a guiding light and Koblin helped prove that it’s
not just for “mymathlab”s, Facebook, and English blogs.
