Due to the recent influx of new technological advances
within the world as we know it, technology has seemingly invaded every other
part of our lives. From how people communicate, to how they get points across,
and even now with art, technology is now embedded within our culture. Within
this TED talk by Aaron Koblin, the cohesiveness and synthesis of something new
entirely is described as coming into being.
In the
beginning of his talk, Koblin demonstrates a new creative idea of portraying the
flights entering and exiting the U.S. as a piece of visual rhetoric. Through
this simple work of art, he demonstrates that humans are art even in the way
that we flow from place to place. This flow creates a beautiful pattern and
sends the message that everything is art. We are art. In his next project,
Koblin demonstrates that not only are humans art, we can collectively work
together to create it. Technology has developed not only to allow us to create
art but to allow us to become it. Koblin portrays many thousands of peoples’
individualities coming together to create a new work of art that melds them
into a whole. By using sheep as the object of importance Koblin demonstrates
how different people view the world while at the same time demonstrating that
everyone has a common bond so that they still basically draw the same thing.
When Kobling decides to bring classic and technology together, he came up with
the idea of a Johnny Cash music video pieced together from different images drawn
by people around the world. He uses this to tell the story of Johhny Cash by
using one of his last songs and the ideas that people had about him. By doing
this he combines the old and the new, and diverse ideas from multiple people
combined into one single idea.
Through the use of various unique
forms of art, Koblin demonstrates harmony. No longer is the idea of art and technology
completely separate fathomable. Through everyday travel to specific messages, humanism,
art, and technology are now one.
