Good and Bad at writing

My writing experiences have had there ups and downs so to speak. It was mostly negative, but at times was also positive. The high school I went to, Bishop England, had the students write a lot of papers. Usually the teachers would assign five paragraph. I was decent at those because the format was always the same. We would write an introductory paragraph and our thesis would just have three talking points. The next three paragraphs were each of the three talking points. Then the last paragraph was the conclusion that summed up everything. It was pretty easy to get the hang of these. Those have probably been the positive part of my writing career. Another assignment we had every year was a term paper. This is when the negative side of my writing came out. Most of the years they had to be one thousand words long. These required doing a lot of research and long sessions in the library finding books and other resources. I am not good a writing long papers like these. I have a very hard time meeting the required word length. During my senior year, I had to write a term paper that was a required minimum of one thousand two hundred words. It was absolutely awful. I turned the paper in with a word count of just over nine hundred words.
When I do write, I usually get distracted. I usually procrastinate quite a good bit. I will get up and get some food or just walk around a little bit sometimes. I pretty much will think of little things to do to avoid writing my paper. But usually I find that once I start I get into it and stay at the computer till I finish or hit a road block. I usually listen to music when I write. But I only put one headphone in and keep it pretty quiet. And its always relaxing music like Jack Johnson, Mumford and Sons, John Mayer, etc. I cannot have the tv on or else I will end up watching that for quite a while.
