For the most part I have always enjoyed writing. I have been writing structured five paragraph essays since sixth grade. In high school I started doing a lot more formal writing. Probably the longest paper I have ever written was eight pages long and it was a history paper for by IB history of the Americas class. When I write I prefer to be either on a couch or on my bed because writing at a desk or table feels weird to me. I tend to listen to music when I write because it helps me to block out all other thoughts that would distract me. I write very fast and it tends to come out in kind of an unorganized mess that I later have to organize. I usually have no clue what I am going to write about until I just start writing so I tend to develop my ideas as I go. I hardly ever proof read my work because I am afraid I will second guess myself and mess up my paper. But for grammar purposes I probably should because my grammar is a little off. I would definitely say that I am a procrastinator when it comes to writing papers. It is not like I wait till the last minute to write because I am lazy, I just need the added pressure of time so that I will sit down and do all of it. When it comes to in-class essays I usually one of the first people to finish. Last year I took AP english and we would write at least one essay a day and some days we would write three essays in 90 minutes. I still feel like I have a long way to go in developing my voice in my writing and staying focused throughout my papers.
