It takes 2 to Tango.

Recently tattoos have become very popular and mainstream. There are many different reasons for getting a tattoo: cultural laws, popular fads, personal meaning etc. A big sacrifice that one has to make when getting a tattoo is they must live with the impressions they leave on others, impressions they make which they can’t control. Obviously it has to be a big commitment for someone to get a tattoo considering they will be living with it for the rest of their life. Because of this, many people get a tattoo that will represent something personal or meaningful to them.
The tattoo shown here is clearly a different type of tattoo than most people get. This tattoo requires the consent and desire of two people rather than just one. Obviously the tattoo would appear just like any other tattoo by itself but the uniqueness comes from the design in which it takes 2 with the same tattoo to convey the authentic meaning. The split heart in the tattoo conveys the feeling of love/passion and shows that it takes their presence together to achieve this “love” they feel. When their forearms are put together the tattoo forms a perfect heart which suggests that their love for each other is perfect. The phrase “Follow me. I’ll follow you.” also conveys a deeper meaning. This phrase suggests that no matter what, through the good and bad, the couple will always be there for each other and will always support/encourage one another. A literal example of this is the fact that both of them followed each other by getting the same tattoo. The fact that the phrase is in the shape of a circle suggests the fact that it’s a constant process of following each other. The shape also suggests that their love is like a circle: never ending. It appears a lot of thought and time went into designing this tattoo which shows the commitment the two have for each other. This proves that an ample amount of meaning and thought can be put into designing/getting a tattoo rather than just getting one due to society’s demands.
