The Collaboration Between Art and Technology: Mankind in the Digital Age

When thinking of art it seems odd to associate it with technology. Aaron Koblin shows that with a new generation of interfaces, technology is now a new form of art. It can be used to express ideas and emotions without even realizing it. These technological experiments do a tremendous job of showing how connected humanity has become. Over the years it has become easier for people to connect with others through technological advances. These art forms conform this and show us that in the future people will be able to get together and work on a common goal from all over the world.
The internet itself and the technology available will change how people interact on a daily basis. Art, as it has been shown can be compiled from the individual work of people everywhere. The experiment, involving sheep shows that humanity is composed of unique and creative individuals. Even though each person was given a single task, each sheep had its own unique twist to it. One person even questioned why they were drawing sheep.
As we march into the digital age, humanities creativity will increase. People will be able to take any work of art, and redesign it with their own unique perspectives. The music video for Johnny Cash shows this. People of different artist backgrounds were able to come together and create a completely new piece of art. Never before have people been able to collaborate on this scale to make art. It’s very fascinating and it gives a glimpse into the future. No longer do you have to be an artist to make art. It does not need to be your career for you to be passionate about something and make something of it.
With the vast amount of options available to connect to people it extremely easy to find people to work with. I’m sure if Aaron paid people in his local community to draw sheep, not many people would do it. When he put it online, he can find thousands of people that find it interesting or simply want two cents.
In the future could art inspire technology? It was the other way around in this case, but hopefully humanity and technology can inspire each other. Technology can help humanity and the arts, and the arts can inspire new technology.
